Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosts reception for Singaporean Defense Minister
Pham underscored the significance of Chan's visit as it provides an opportunity to discuss ways to further promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Given the rapid and complicated evolution of the regional and international landscape, Pham sugggested the two countries should work together to consolidate political trust through regular exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels and in a flexible manner.
Both sides need to promptly finalize an action program for the 2025-2030 period, expand cooperation in such fields like food security, renewable energy, carbon credit exchange, development of new-generation Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) system, logistics, finance-banking, education and training among others, said the Prime Minister.
He also suggested the two countries step up experience sharing in Party building, socio-economic development, and consultation on regional and international matters of shared concern.
Chan, for his part, said his visit aims to strengthen cooperation across the Party and State channels and peope-to-people exchanges; expressing his admiration for Viet Nam's achievements, particularly in maintaining political stability and socio-economic development.
He emphasized that both countries share many similarities in terms of strategic interests, policy priorities, and various regional and international issues of common concern.
Chan promised that Singapore would continue close consultation with and support Viet Nam at multilateral and international forums, especially ASEAN, APEC, and the UN.
Earlier the same day, Chan held talks with Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang and visited the headquarters of the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).
