Following the spectacular success of the 2023 edition, the enchanting summer nights along the Han River are poised to glitter once more as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival – DIFF 2024 makes its triumphant return. Presented in collaboration with the People's Committee of Da Nang City and Sun Group, blazing fireworks will illuminate the sky with beautiful explosive colors.

On the afternoon of December 19, 2023, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held a working session with various departments and Sun Group to discuss several aspects related to the planning of the DIFF 2024. Accordingly, the People's Committee of Da Nang City proposes that Sun Group remains a corporate partner, accompanying the city in the organization of the festival and its sideline events.

The venue for DIFF 2024 will be similar to that of 2023, covering both the Han River Port area for the fireworks display and the Tran Hung Dao Street sidewalk area designated for artistic performances.

DIFF 2024 is projected to host 8 participating teams, comprising 7 international teams: France, Italy, the United States, Germany, Poland, China, and Finland, with the Da Nang team representing Vietnam. This means that the upcoming edition is expected to welcome 3 new entrants from the countries: the United States, Germany, and China, to the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival.

DIFF 2024 will follow the same program format as the previous year, consisting of 5 competition nights, which include 4 qualifying rounds and one final night.

Da Nang for DIFF 2023.

The opening night is planned for June 8th, with fireworks shows scheduled for every Saturday evening in the following weeks (except for the week before the final night). The anticipated date for the DIFF 2024 final night is July 13th.

Each night, the teams will perform 20-minute fireworks displays according to the theme decided upon by the event organizers. While the key theme for DIFF 2024 is currently being chosen, the leaders of Da Nang City emphasize that the aim of DIFF 2024 is to convey a message of a peaceful, fair, harmonious, and compassionate world.

The 2023 edition of DIFF served as a significant boost for Da Nang's tourism recovery from the Covid-19 crisis, surpassing growth expectations. Over the first six months of the year, Da Nang welcomed nearly 3.5 million visitors, marking a significant 116.6% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Among these, there were 930,000 international visitors, an 11.3-fold rise from the previous year, while the number of domestic visitors approached 2.6 million, reflecting a 67.7% increase from the corresponding period.

During the DIFF event, the number of flights to Da Nang International Airport reached 150 per day at certain times, showing a 1.5-fold increase compared to normal days. The city's room occupancy is at about 70%, with 4-5-star hotels reaching 80-85%. This demonstrates growth compared to DIFF 2019 when the city's overall room occupancy was 65-70%, and 4-5-star hotels ranged from 75-85%.

2024 will be the 12th year that DIFF takes place in Da Nang. The first-ever Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC) was held on March 29, 2008, as part of the city's liberation celebrations, offering locals and tourists their first experience of fireworks choreographed to music. In 2017, the city renamed the contest as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) and shifted its funding to a social-financial approach, thanks to the sponsorship and partnership of Sun Group. Throughout that journey, the DIFF has emerged as a popular event, making the city the highlight of the festivities every summer.
