Seminar on 60 years since President Ho Chi Minh launched tree planting festival in Hanoi

On November 26th, President Ho Chi Minh's Relics Site at the Presidential Palace coordinated with the Vietnam Administration of Forestry to organize a scientific seminar on 60 years since President Ho Chi Minh launched the tree planting festival (1959-2019) and Vietnam Forestry Day.

The activity aims to celebrate 50 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's testament, 60 years since President Ho Chi Minh launched the tree planting festival (November 28th) and the implementation of Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo (the 12th tenure) on promoting the study and following President Ho Chi Minh’s example in ideology, ethics and lifestyle.

On November 28th, 1959, President Ho Chi Minh wrote an article which was published on Nhan dan (People) newspaper, stressing the significance of tree planting to each person, each family and the entire nation. It has since become an annual festival of the Vietnamese at the beginning of each Lunar New Year. 

In the current context, climate change is complicated, negatively affecting the socio-economic development of the country, once again affirming the great significance of tree planting and forestation.

The seminar drew the participation of 150 scientists, researchers and managers with 60 presentations on the background of birth and historical significance of the tree planting festival launched by President Ho Chi Minh; economic, political, cultural, social values and practical meaning of tree planting festival; President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology and philosophy on protecting the ecological environment and natural resources; President Ho Chi Minh’s natural love through tree planting festival; the conservation and promotion of spatial values, environmental landscapes, trees in the Presidential Palace Relics Site; awareness and action over 60 years of implementing Uncle Ho's call for tree planting festival; and the forestry sector with the tree planting festival./.
