Vietnamese Chief of General Staff visits India Western Naval Command

Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, leading a high-ranking Vietnamese defense delegation, visited the Western Naval Command (WNC) of the Indian Navy on November 27. The delegation included Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau.

At the reception, Vice Admiral R.B. Bandit, Chief of Staff of the WNC, spoke highly of the multifaceted cooperation between the WNC and the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) over the past years.

He stressed that the friendly visits and exchange programs between naval ships of the two sides have highlighted the good relationship of the two navies in particular and the two militaries in general.

He said that the WNC has planned to expand comprehensive cooperation with the VPN on delegation exchange, training, and information sharing, in the time to come.

For his part, General Giang expressed delight at the good results of the bilateral cooperation between the WNC and the VPN over the past time and hoped that the bilateral ties will be increasingly enhanced in the time to come.

He also briefed Vice Admiral R.B. Bandit and Indian officers on outcomes of his previous working sessions with General Bipin Rawat, India Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff.

After the reception, the Vietnamese high-ranking defense delegation toured the warship INS Teg (F45) and an aircraft carrier shipyard of the WNC.
